Pet project of the week time.
I managed over the last couple of evenings to finish off a very early pass at something I’ve wanted to do for a while.
It’s a web app that will check to your user name across most of the current leading web2.0 social networking sites.
UserNameCheck.com
You type in your username and the app will tell you if it’s available or taken. That’s it. Nice and simple.

I am having Hi5 timeout issues, and reddit wasn’t working for a while thanks to Talk Like a Pirate Day it, but it’s a work in progress. If you have sites you feel should be added, just post a comment here. At some point I’ll add a form to usernamecheck.com for people to add suggestions.
